Bavarian Bassdays Online Edition FAQ’s

Because we’re online this year, there have been a lot of questions about the logistics of how this is going to happen.

How Does the event work?

The Bavarian Bassdays takes place live via Zoom link within K-Nation. Upon registration, you’ll get a link to access K-Nation and the Bavarian Bassdays “Course”.

Have your bass ready because you will be playing all weekend long. Meet folks from all over the world and hang out with them throughout the event on the K-Nation platform.

A strong internet connection is suggested. A hardwired or ethernet connection and external USB mic is recommended for optimum sound.

What will the schedule look like?

In order to accommodate as many time zones as possible, we’ve focused the offerings to a 6-hour daily window (listed below). If you can’t make a session, everything will be recorded and available for you to enjoy again and again at your leisure.

I’m not as experienced as other people. Is this right for me?

Yes, absolutely! This program is especially designed to accomodate all levels from beginner to pro at all age levels.

I'm not very tech-savvy. Is that okay?

Absolutely! As long as you can use Zoom and email, that’s all you need in order to participate. We’ll have a check in day before the event starts where you can “call in” and make sure you are ready to go. We’ll also have tech people available throughout the weekend to help you if you run into any snags.

What if I want to participate in both the classical and jazz courses?

Our online edition is structured to give you a little bit of everything. Come in and enjoy the variety. You never know where you’ll get inspired.

Are there recordings if I can't make everything?

Absolutely! We understand that life can get busy and it is possible that the time difference makes it difficult to make every session.  Your K-Nation membership gives you full access to all the replays and supplemental materials until January 31, 2022.*

*If you decide to become a subscribing member of K-Nation, you can maintain your access at no additional charge.

What is K-Nation?

K-Nation is an online learning community for weekend warriors, life-long learners, and jazz-curious musicians that want to sharpen their skills so they can leave their living rooms and start playing gigs.

Started in June 2021 by bassist, vocalist, and educator Kristin Korb, this group’s purpose is to go beyond what you can “Google”.

Meet like-minded musicians from all over the world. Share music, videos, and other things that inspire you with the community. Find inspiration in what others share with you and talk about it in an uplifting and positive community.

Hump Day Hang (most Wednesdays): Our online (Zoom) hang sessions where you can ask anything. Bring your instrument and be ready to play. Are you working on playing a jazz standard? Making an arrangement? Trying something new? Let’s explore the possibilities together.

📽 If you can’t make a session, watch the replay at your convenience. We have a growing playlist of past hangs with notated conversations.

Resource Library: We have a growing library of resources where you have full access to tips, exercises, challenges, and classes that are supported by our ongoing community discussions.

    • Blues Challenge (All Levels / Aug 2021) – Learn a blues melody every day for 31 days to expand your melodic and improvisation possibilities. All K-Nation members have FREE access to all the materials and discussions.

Workshop Weekends (Members get a big discount on registration fees and unlimited access to the recorded materials and replays.)

    • Bavarian Bassdays (Oct 30-Oct 31, 2021) – A weekend celebrating all things bass with workshops, private lessons, and two streamed concerts.
    • Singing & Playing Together (coming January 2022): It isn’t impossible to sing and play at the same time. Although this class will be focused on singing and playing the bass, the exercises can be used on all instruments
